“To be completely honest, I'm not even sure how to appropriately qualify the kind of incredible work Shane is able to do in his art and photography. Shane and I have been friends for some time, and while I've always admired his work, I've always found myself wondering how he is able to work with such beautiful, aesthetically symmetrical and professional models who look natural, not posed, and always alluring.

I had a chance recently to work with Shane on a set of photos to remember myself by because I'm going in for a major, planned but required surgery which will alter my appearance permanently. I honestly wasn't sure how it would go, considering (1) we are friends (2) I am ULTIMATE awkward. I in no way could ever imagine myself looking anything like anyone in his portfolio and much less appealing somehow. I just wanted to remember myself as I am, whatever that was, awkward and all.

Boy, I was not prepared for how elevating this experience was, and it really is an experience. This is not a photography session, it's a therapy session (lol). Shane is natural, friendly, but also funny, thoughtful, insightful, and encouraging. The way he guides you through a session is just a hang out, and we had so much to catch up on in the time we spent together since it had been years since we last hung out. And somewhere in the midst of catching up, sharing stories, laughing and making fun of ourselves, something magical happens.

I'm forever grateful for this experience with Shane because it was truly an amazing way to honor my body and myself, even as I found myself unexpectedly in this current stage in life. I felt incredibly present, empowered, and beautiful, things I could never use to honestly and truthfully describe about myself.

“Working with Shane was a fantastic experience!

From the very start he was professional but friendly, and we spent a lot of time talking about ideas, preferences, and what the shoot would be like. I had some privacy concerns, but Shane was patient and walked me through the security he takes with clients' photos and how seriously he takes respecting his clients' desires for privacy. I have a little experience with shibari safety, but Shane's knowledge of the art and all of the relevant safety protocols and best practices convinced me from the very start that he was the photographer for me. I had no doubt that I was in good hands.

I'd never done this before so I didn't know what to expect, but the entire day was great. We had time to chat and "break the ice" a little while the excellent makeup artist Shane chose made me the most beautiful version of myself - he asked about my preferences for the look and my hair, how much makeup I typically wear, and about my skin to make sure I would not only be happy with the result, but would still feel like me and be comfortable.

When we started taking photos, my inexperience gave me pause--I've never taken a single "racy" photo in my life! Shane's professionalism and easy manner were on display as he walked me through ideas and poses that made me feel more at ease, and we shared some cheesy jokes and stories that made me really laugh. If you've never seen a relaxed photo of yourself truly smiling and at ease, you'll be amazed at how genuine you look and feel and how much you'll treasure that photograph.

At the end of the day, we'd shared snacks and stories and laughs so by the time we sat down to review photos together it felt as though I'd made a friend. There were so many amazing options that it felt impossible to choose, but once we were finished, I felt confident in my choices. My book arrived today and the quality of the photos and the finished product are unmatched.

If you're looking for just the same few standard poses so many boudoir photographers use, taken by someone who sees you as just another face in the lens at bargain basement prices, you're not in the right place. But if you're looking for a great experience that reflects who you are and is tailored to your personality, by someone who gets to know you provides an amazing, quality, lasting set of portraits you'll always enjoy looking back at, Shane is the photographer for you, too.”

“I booked Shane thinking I would like to know myself, but its rare for me to take photos without wearing clothes. I’m not a professional model, so I was pretty nervous and I didn’t know what kind of faces to make or poses to do. However, working with Shane I became less nervous little by little. “Amazing, amazing work.

I only had a chance to work with Shane once (a week before I moved across the country!), but he was AWESOME. Not only is he incredibly professional and fun to work with, but he's ridiculously knowledgeable about his work and was more than happy to explain his techniques and the thought process behind each step he took.

As someone who is definitely more of a hobbyist, it was tons of fun to learn more from a seasoned professional.

I was super nervous when we were working together (I'm actually quite camera shy), but he made it his mission to make sure I was as comfortable as possible and having as much fun as possible. He takes his models' feelings and comfortability into consideration and is 100% focused on making sure you feel beautiful.

His turnaround time for photos was also very quick and each photo was FANTASTIC. We mostly worked in B&W (his signature style!), but we got so many great photos out of it. It's a bummer he lives across the country - I've gotten a lot more comfortable in front of the camera and would love to work with him again. Definitely recommend.”
